Job Summary:
The Geography and Anthropology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Geography with anemphasis in Geographic Information Systems, and the desire and capacity to contribute substantially to our Geospatial Analysis and Technologies programming. Position begins August 2018.
The department seeks a physical or human geographer with a PhD in geography at the time of appointment (ABDs near completion will be considered) whose teaching and research interests complement existing strengths in the department. The successful candidate will teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced GIS courses as well as courses in their own interest areas. The department encourages applications from persons of groups historically underrepresented in geography.
Duties:
Teach GIS courses in the Department of Geography and Anthropology and other course(s) based on program needs and candidate??s specialization. All members of the department are expected to teach an introductory geography class.
Qualifications:
Required
- Earned doctorate in geography by August 27, 2018;
- Evidence of successful university teaching [e.g., knowledge and skills in educational technology, formal and informal assessment practices, classroom management];
- Expertise with industry-standard GIS software, such as ESRI and QGIS;
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness;
- Commitment to undergraduate teaching and learning, student-faculty research collaboration, and interdisciplinary collaboration across campus
Preferred
- Ability to incorporate Python and R scripting into teaching and research.
