Job Summary:
The Master Data Analyst (MDA) is part of the Engineering Technology group, and they are responsible for keeping all information associated with CN’s assets and maintained by Engineering up to date. Asset information, which is utilized by groups across the company including transportation, sales, finance, accounting and others, must be maintained in multiple data bases to ensure all information is correctly stated. When asset field changes result in updates to operational systems such as CN’s dispatching programs and PTC, the MDA is responsible to assist with the coordination of the field work, field surveys and operational cutovers to ensure the data matches actual field conditions.
The MDA will be assigned a territory comprised of 4,000 to 6,000 miles of track and will be responsible for performing accurate updates to Master Data in CN’s key spatial and non-spatial databases to ensure our records are always current and can support safe and efficient Operational Technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Receive, analyze, and process all Master Data change notifications from field personal on their territory.
- Work with multiple departments to understand the impact of field changes and plan updates across multiple databases.
- Provide approval or rejection of change requests.
- Perform and coordinate spatial and non-spatial database updates, leveraging multiple data sources, to match the field reality. This includes, among others, the following CN’s systems:

- CN Enterprise GIS database (EGIS) and LRS using AutoCAD Map 3D and FME applications
- CN Engineering Plant Inventory (EPI) in SAP
- Third-party systems such as FRA DOT data base, inspection software suppliers, etc.
- Produce file geodatabases, or ??subdivision file packages’, from an Enterprise GIS database that meet specification.
- Coordinate / participate in asset audits (field and office) on an as needed basis.
- Apply strict quality control procedures to meet the rigorous accuracy and network topology standards required for safe and efficient rail operation.
- Ensure train operations are not impacted by required data updates to Operational Technology systems and prioritize editing tasks accordingly.
- Track, update, and report on the progress of each asset change in our workflow management system.
- Determine where field survey is required and coordinate with surveyors.
- Perform basic spatial and non-spatial data queries and generate reports on change progress

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in with Geospatial emphasis such as: Civil Engineering, Geography or Computer Science
- 2 to 5 years work experience in the geospatial industry
- Experience with the following tools and concepts: AutoCAD Map 3D / Network topology / SAP: PM, LAM modules / High precision GPS and post processing / Standard datums and projection systems / Commercial RDBMSs, such as Oracle / Quality control / SQL
- Capacityto accept responsibility and accountability
