Job Summary:
Currently we are searching for a GIS Intern. Candidates must have completed or are working toward a degree in GIS or a related field. This position will be responsible for performing entry level professional GIS duties, while working within the GIS team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The candidate will be involved in all aspects of GIS map generation including data creation and editing, querying and spatial analysis, map compilation and map production in relatively fast-paced environment. This position will provide the opportunity to work on exciting projects while learning from an experienced GIS staff. The position will also be utilized for field data collection and may require minimal travel.
Qualifications:
The position requires strong knowledge of GIS software for map generation and data creation and a strong background working with ESRI ArcGIS 10.x software is required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required. Experience with AutoCAD, civil engineering, water resources or environmental applications are a plus. The position also requires the ability to complete field work with a survey crew or GPS equipment. Knowledge of surveying or GPS data collection will be considered a plus.
Initial duration of the internship will be for the school year. Depending on performance and project workload, internship could be extended based the student’s remaining time in school.
