This is a dual-role limited-term position. The employee will spend part of the working hours in the office conducting geospatial data processing supplied from a Mobile Lidar unit and create undefined deliverables individually or as part of a team. The employee will be out of the office for up to 3-weeks at a time on deployment driving and collecting data using the Mobile Lidar unit. Candidates require a valid driver’s license and the ability to navigate through unfamiliar areas and adverse traffic conditions while maintaining safety standards and following all appropriate laws and regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Process geospatial data using third party and proprietary software
  •  Identify various types of features and associated data from image examples
  •  Understand and utilize basic math
  •  Follow written and spoken instructions
  •  Operate as part of a team
  • Be able to travel for up to a 3-week period of time; some travel will require the individual to be operating as a single operator.
  • Effectively operate the Mobile Lidar unit
  • Develop analytical and troubleshooting techniques for the Mobile Lidar unit
  • Ability to navigate the vehicle carrying the Mobile Lidar unit through high traffic areas while adhering to collection protocol
  • Ability to lift and carry the Mobile Lidar unit to secure it onto the vehicle; lift 40lb overhead and occasional lifting of up to 75lb.
  • Report writing on daily activities and incidents
  • Ability to maintain a detailed daily log of requested information
  • Self-directed with the ability to make decisions based on information at hand
  • Ability to follow strict operating protocols in the field

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of ArcMap (preferred but not required)
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong computer and technical skills
  • Working knowledge of Google products (Earth, Drive, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of mobile operating systems (IOS, Android)
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good driving record

Experience & Education

  • Does not require prior professional experience; related experience through their college degree, internships or professional jobs is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
