Job Summary:
POWER Engineers, Inc., one of the nation’s strongest energy-related engineering and environmental consultants, is currently seeking a Junior GIS Consultant / Developer for our Minneapolis, MN office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a team to help our Electric, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications Utility clients improve their businesses through the use of innovative software solutions
- Help document our clients’ current business processes and requirements so that they can then be used to design new software solutions
- Assist in the design, installation, configuration, development and deployment of software solutions, especially those centered on Geographic Information Systems
- Grow with experience to assume more direct responsibility in supporting clients
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, GIS, Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar degree
- Must have an ability to learn and apply new skills quickly
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must display a natural talent for discovering how things work, troubleshooting and resolving issues
Desired Education/Experience:
- An understanding of general database concepts
- Familiarity with at least one programming language and programming concepts
- Knowledge of and/or desire to learn GIS software fundamentals
- Some familiarity with Electric, Gas, or Water utility operations
