GIS Specialist

Job Summary & Duties:

CDM Smith is currently seeking a GIS Specialist to support FEMA Risk MAP (Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning) activities nationwide. On a daily basis, the selected candidate will work closely with team members, both locally and nationally, towards the successful completion of a variety of RiskMap products. Additionally, as CDM Smith provides service at all stages of RiskMap, the selected candidate can expect involvement throughout the project life cycle. Occasional to frequent interaction with FEMA, state and local partners, and homeowners can be expected. Project related responsibilities include:

• Producing high-quality geospatial and cartographic products all adhering to strict FEMA requirements
• Lead and support both internal QA/QC procedures as well as FEMA Quality Reviews 1-7
• Facilitating/presenting/participation at public meetings and support of community engagement activities
• Independently lead and coordinate projects and delegate tasks to multiple supporting staff

Qualifications:

Required

A successful CDM Smith candidate will have: B.S./B.A. or M.S./M.A. in computer science, geography, geology, engineering, planning, mathematics, government, or a related field Three years’ experience applying GIS technology with B.S., 2 years’ with M.S. Familiarity with most of the following tools: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, UML Tools, ArcEditor 9.x, ArcView 9.x, ArcGIS Extensions, Model Builder, ArcPad, GPS Unit, Internet Explorer, VBA for ArcGIS, ArcIMS, Autodesk MapGuide, Avenue (preferred) Strict attention to detail Excellent time management skills.

Preferred

• M.S. / M.A. in geography, computer science, geology, planning, mathematics, engineering or a related field
• GISP or ESRI (Desktop, Developer or Enterprise) Certification
• CFM Certification
• Basic programming/scripting in HTML5, Python, XML, and JavaScript
• 5+ Years FEMA RiskMap experience
