Job Summary:
The Anoka County Transportation Division has an immediate opening for a Survey Project Coordinator in the County Surveyor’s Office. This position will direct and supervise the daily office operations and projects within the Surveyor’s Office and coordinate the projects with other County departments and government agencies.
Duties:
Directs and supervises Survey Unit office staff and assists with conducting office staff performance evaluations; Supervises and assists with customer service responsibilities of the Surveyor’s Office; Assists GIS Coordinator with development of map updating procedures relating to GIS applications; Researches and recommends standards and procedures involving survey projects; Assists Survey Unit office staff with survey related software applications and procedures; Uses and remains current on technology and developments in survey related software and data conversion.
Qualifications:
Licensed as a Land Surveyor or Land Surveyor in Training, with the qualifications to be licensed as a Land Surveyor within one year, in the State of Minnesota required. Post secondary training in surveying, computer-aided drafting and advanced mathematics with a degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience in surveying, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position. Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of State laws, rules and regulations governing land surveying practices and subdivision of land; Knowledge of advanced mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra and coordinate geometry; Knowledge of current technologies and developments relating to surveying, geographic information systems and Internet application development.
Ability to:
Ability to supervise the work of Survey CADD Specialists and Operation Support Technician; Ability to use desktop computers and land surveying software, including Autodesk Civil 3D software; Ability to draft maps, charts and plats using computer-aided drafting software; Ability to use Microsoft Office software to produce presentations and applications necessary for the completion of a project or efficient office operation; Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers; Ability to communicate with the general public and outside contacts, including resolving problems presented by concerned residents; Ability to correspond with land surveyors, engineers and technicians on their level of professional ability and knowledge, either in writing or through oral communications; Ability to assist with performance evaluations of office staff; Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, aerial photos and all types of survey maps.
