Job Summary:

Serve as project coordinator/evaluator for the Office of Health Informatics (OHI). Coordinate and evaluate progress on various data management system-level projects. Work with other UWPHI/OHI-based staff and with UWPHI evaluation teams to collaborate, where possible, and to ensure data required to successfully carry out evaluation workplans are developed and provided to UWPHI.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in relevant discipline required. Relevant disciplines include: public health, social sciences, public policy, health education, evaluation research, public health informatics, or a related field. Level of appointment will be contingent upon training and relevant work history.

Candidates who demonstrate the following will be preferred:

  • 2 years or more of successful and relevant postgraduate professional work experience in the utilization of epidemiological concepts, principles, practices, and methods.
  • Experience and knowledge of research and evaluation methods in population health.
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical programming and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience disseminating data and information orally and in writing to diverse audiences using a variety of techniques and tools.
  • A mix of organizational, evaluation, analytic, and dissemination skills.
  • Knowledge of public health informatics, data, and information systems.
  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, and evaluation theory and methods.
  • Strong computer and statistical analysis programming skills using database and statistical software such as R, SQL, SAS, or SPSS, and office software packages such as SharePoint, Access, and Excel.
  • Experience preparing infographics, GIS maps, reports, fact-sheets, and publications using a variety of data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Experience in data analysis and in applying analysis and research to policy and program development in public health.
  • The ability to connect research/analytic results to programs, policies, and organizational goals.
  • The ability to translate analytic findings for use by professional public health and community audiences.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and also excellent interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:

  • Applicants should have interest in applied research and evaluation of programs in population health, epidemiology, public health, and public health informatics. We are looking for a mix of organizational, evaluation, analytic, and dissemination skills.
  • Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
  • This position will be housed at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the Office of Health Informatics.
  • Some travel within Wisconsin is required, and candidate must be qualified to drive a University car and/or able to provide own means of transportation
