Job Summary:

MAG Aerospace is hiring a GIS Analyst 3 for Scott AFB. This position is Contingent until the contract is awarded, projected in November. The candidate will perform geospatial data gathering and entry to create, maintain, display and update Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, coverages, and linkages to various GIS databases.

Other assignments will be:

  • Produces accurate maps and other representations of data.
  • Researches source records and documents or goes into the field to visually locate items to resolve conflicting information and ensure the accuracy of data.
  • Design, create and develop spatial data sets and models using geospatial software tools (e.g., ArcGIS); develop processes and solutions using GIS, perform data conversions, and creates and publish various functional and mission related maps.
  • Collect, process, and present field survey data (geophysical survey, geospatial location) for projects. Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology to document and compile asset information, display digital data, and create detailed maps and drawings that contain multiple layers of geospatial and other information.
  • May be required to create and maintain technical documentation, surveying and modeling asset inventories to support project initiatives related to Air Force operations.May be required to develop, operate, and maintain Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database environments.
  • Support goals and policies ranging from broad to specific. Help determine work objectives.May supervise GIS Technicians and/or lower-level GIS Analysts.
  • Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives. Directs and controls activities for a client, having overall responsibility for financial management, methods, and staffing to ensure that technical requirements are met. Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management.Decision making and domain knowledge may have a critical impact on overall project implementation.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and use various maps, single line drawings and aerial imagery.Ability to become familiar with industry specific (such as utility, wastewater, municipal infrastructure, planning and zoning) terms and symbols.Ability to perform mathematical calculations using algebra, geometry and trigonometry.Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government employees, other DoD contractors, etc.
  • Strong technical written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas.Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.Ability to create and direct written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to guide, lead, direct and/or oversee numerous (more than 4) simultaneous geospatial data manipulation and/or analysis tasks.

Experience Required:

  • Ten (10) or more years of total GIS experience with 6-8 years performing GIS analysis. Relevant experience working in a consulting environment which provides the requisite GIS and engineering knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Spatial data management experience and understanding of geoprocessing to support work flow automation.
  • Ability to do spatial queries, table joins, pivot tables, etc.Ability to apply GIS expertise in multiple engineering disciplines (water resources, transportation, planning and survey).GIS customization experience using resources such as Python scripting and ESRIs ModelBuilder.
  • Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and/or Microsoft Access.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Visio, and Windows operating system platform.
  • Experience with GIS and CADD software including but not limited to GIS software such as ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced, Standard or Basic, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server and other related ESRI products and CADD software such as AutoCAD or Map3D.
  • Knowledge of symbols and terminology used in civil, architectural or electronic drawings. Knowledge of document imaging, digitizing and data manipulation procedures for geographic information systems.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with GPS equipment and software for data capture, conversion, and implementation into a GIS
  • Security Clearance Required: Active US Secret or higher.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent work experience.
