Job Summary:

JSD Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual who is well rounded in various Land Surveying duties. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable working in the field and can work extended hours to meet deadlines. With guidance from the Department Manager you’ll perform various field activities, prepare survey drawings, and work directly with Staff and Clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform multiple survey activities with minimal or no supervision
  • Boundary, topographic, ALTA, right of way and construction surveys for public and private clients
  • Work may include preparation of CAD survey drawings
  • Perform field survey activities in accordance with standards set by state statutes and the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping
  • Assure Survey Crew adheres to procedures in the safety manual and uses all personal safety equipment provided
  • Plan daily activities for multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Survey Department Manager
  • Supervise vehicle and equipment inventory, loading and maintenance
  • Make timely requests for external equipment, procedural changes, new equipment purchases and vehicle maintenance to Survey Department Manager
  • Supervise the Survey Crews use of equipment, preparation of sketches and notes, and electronic data collection
  • Communicate with the entire Survey Department about all aspects of the project
  • Work without day-to-day supervision and make decisions for projects assigned within specified limits of authority
  •  Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders
  • Provide input to Survey Department Manager for the formal performance evaluation of Survey Crew members
  • Ability to work extended hours as required to meet client, project and/or business demands

Qualifications:

  • An Associates Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related degree is required
  • Valid Drivers License
  • 3-5 years of Survey Experience
  • PLS or Certified Survey Technician would be preferred
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Equipment
