Land Use Specialist

Job Summary & Duties:

Clark County is seeking a full-time Land Use Specialist in the Planning and Zoning Department. The Land Use Specialist reviews Private Onsite Waste Treatment System (POWTS) plans for approval, soil tests for accuracy, and conducts onsite installation inspections for all countywide POWTS. The Land Use Specialist may assist the Zoning Administrator with sanitary and land use permits, maintain  data for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and communicate with the general public.

Qualifications:

Wisconsin Licensed Plumber with soils and POWTS Inspector credential from the Department of Safety and Professional Services is also required (must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire). Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. In evaluating candidates for this position, the County will consider a combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability and willingness to work in field conditions which require exposure to environmental factors, be able to communicate and constructively interact with co-workers, contractors and the public, effectively read and interpret statutes, administrative code, component manuals, and county ordinance, and have excellent written communication skills in order to write routine reports and correspondence.
