WGNHS Mission: The Survey conducts earth-science surveys, field studies, and research. We provide objective scientific information about the geology, mineral resources, water resources, soil, and biology of Wisconsin. We collect, interpret, disseminate, and archive natural resource information. We communicate the results of our activities through publications, technical talks, and responses to inquiries from the public. These activities support informed decision-making by government, industry, business, and individual citizens.

Job Description: This student hourly position will involve editing and analyzing GIS data to support an effort to develop a databases of well construction records. Primary responsibilities will include data-entry and spatial editing of subsurface geologic records from water well construction records in a Microsoft Access and ESRI File geodatabase environment. There could be additional responsibilities and extension of employment dependent on job performance.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have familiarity with editing data using ArcMap 10.x, an interest in geology or natural resources, and a possess minimum of two years undergraduate education in geography or the natural sciences with some GIS coursework.

Work will take place at the WGNHS office at 3817 Mineral Point Road, Madison, Wisconsin. Rate of pay for this position is $12 per hour.

Duration: March, 2018 to September, 2018
