The Department of Natural Resources is hiring one Information Systems Data Services-Senior position in the Division of Forestry. This position will be located in Wisconsin Rapids (Wood County) (preferred) or Eau Claire (Eau Claire County).

Position Summary:

This position works as part of a team of Information Technology (IT) Professionals to support field operations for the Division of Forestry. This position provides expertise and customer support of specialized forestry technical solutions (e.g. electronic field data collection devices with integrated GPS, and Division of Forestry custom applications such as WI Forest Inventory & Reporting System (WisFIRS), Fire Reporting System, etc.) that supports the work of Forestry field staff for analysis, reporting, mapping, spatial data capture, and general technology use. The position requires a strong knowledge base and experience in IT, GIS, GPS, and understanding of Forestry practices and terminology, with the aptitude and desire for helping and teaching staff and customers how to make efficient use of technology. This position is responsible for ensuring Forestry Division staff and its partners are able to use technology effectively in their jobs through technical support and training in formal and non-formal settings. This position will regularly conduct trainings in front of large groups and requires frequent in-state travel.

Minimally qualified candidates will have:

· Experience testing and troubleshooting custom and commercial off the shelf IT/GIS applications (e.g. web-based, mobile-based, desktop, etc.)
· Experience providing customer service in an office setting by multiple methods (e.g. phone, e-mail, in person, video-conferencing, etc.)
· Experience preparing and presenting training to groups of people
· Strong oral, written and technical communication skills
· Database management experience
· Ability to work independently to meet shared team goals
· Solid problem solving and critical thinking skills

Well-qualified candidates will also have:

· Natural resources training or experience
· Field data collection experience
· IT experience in government
· Experience developing training
