Job Summary:
The City of Janesville is cunently seeking a seasonal GIS utility intern to assist with collecting and maintaining geographic data for the City’s sanitary and water utility layers. This person will assist with GIS data development, quality control, data conversion, and special utility project tasks as directed by the GIS Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should be enrolled in a bachelors, or master’s degree in geography, urban planning, or similar Alternatively, the candidate may hold one of these degrees.
- Candidates should have demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS x software including advanced editing and database management tools. Also, candidates should be familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
- Experience with the following is a plus: Geodatabases, ArcSDE, quality control/assurance, critical problem solving skills, researching and reading engineering construction plans, geometric networks, and some knowledge of AutoCAD systems and file conversion to ESRI
