Job Summary:

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently filling two Real Estate Specialist positions. These positions will be filled at the Real Estate Specialist- Advanced level. Both positions have the option of being stationed in multiple locations including: Rhinelander, Ashland, Lacrosse, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Rapids, Wautoma, Green Bay, or Fitchburg. We may use this applicant list to fill future vacancies in the coming months at the Senior or Advanced level.

Duties:

This position provides statewide real estate expertise in the areas of appraisal, appraisal review, right of way and boundary issues, easement agreements and contracts, adverse possession, real estate negotiations, property management, trespass, access abandonment, site reclamation and relocation. The position also provides real estate services to local units of government and non-profit conservation organizations for grant purposes, and to the general public, federal government entities, and tribes of state-owned lands. The position also serves on master plan and property feasibility study teams, participates in integrated property management meetings and attends a variety of public and government meetings. The position supports coordinating land surveys, assists with the resolution of disputes regarding land ownership and property rights, and is responsible for training real estate specialists (land agents) and property managers on matters related to property acquisition and realty management. The position will also complete land acquisition assignments as directed by their supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Wisconsin Real Estate Law and experience with legal real estate documents and contracts
  • Reviewing, searching, and interpreting real estate titles and review of title insurance policies
  • Legal descriptions and real estate maps
  • Real estate negotiations
  • Real estate valuations

Preferred

  • Real estate appraiser license, real estate broker license, or surveyor license
  • Experience with GIS and creating real estate maps
  • Real estate closing experience
