Various positions will be filled at the MnDOT District 6 office in Rochester.  The assignments may be in one or more of the areas listed below.

Surveys

Serve as a survey crew member in the field to assist with construction, topographic and land surveys with some office work.  Position will include setting up and operating survey equipment, performing construction staking and frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.  Frequent overtime may be required.

Right of Way

Assist the Technicians with ordering titles, spotting titles, building measuring, building sales, filing papers, miscellaneous errands, and county GIS property records research.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge and application of advanced mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry for engineering positions.
  • Ability to evaluate and provide technical knowledge and/or recommend revisions or changes; ability to interact with customers (both internal and external) and stakeholders.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in the Civil Technology Program or Civil Engineering Program with a GPA of at least 2.0 for Hydraulics Design/Materials/Surveys/Right of WayTraffic, Construction/Project Management, and Design positions.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student, preferably in a building maintenance program or related field with a GPA of at least 2.0 for the Building Maintenance position.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Sophomores, juniors, or students who have at least one year or more left in school before completing their program.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in the Civil Technology Program or Civil Engineering Program with a GPA of at least 3.0 for Hydraulics Design/Materials/Surveys/Right of Way/Traffic, Construction/Project Management, and Design position.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student, preferably in Human Resources/Safety, or related field with a GPA of at least 2.5 for the Human Resources/Safety position.
