Job Summary:
Under supervision, to perform planning, research, documentation, graphic and GIS work for the Community Development Department, and to perform related duties as required. Assist as a member of staff teams with the comprehensive revision of general zoning and other GIS special planning projects.
Duties:
- Develops maps, charts, diagrams, reports, newsletters, surveys, information packets, fact sheets, and other planning documents for distribution and presentation to public, committees, and others.
- Participates in public workshops and meetings. Assists in preparation for meetings, answers questions, and records opinions. May facilitate discussions.
- Compiles and analyzes data for development and revision of comprehensive zoning.
- Researches, evaluates, and presents background information and data pertaining to projects, including land use, population, and employment information.
- Records, reviews, and reports opinions expressed by public.
- Evaluates, verifies, and corrects information collected from sources.
- Creates and updates maps, diagrams, graphs and land use inventories.
- Maintains databases and other forms of division reference information.
- Researches new sources of data and information.
- Performs site visits as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to cooperate with staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain a professional manner when dealing with the public.
- Ability to comprehend, retain and apply County and state policies and legislation, i.e. County ordinances, procedure manuals, etc.
- General knowledge of planning principles and practices;
- Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection;
- Knowledge of computer technology, which includes internet applications, Microsoft Office, and GIS;
- Skill in the use of GIS software;
- Ability to prepare accurate and neat maps, graphics and drawings;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- Knowledge of GIS planning applications
- Analytical and organizational skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education & Experience:
- Recent graduate or current student in Land Use Planning, GIS, or related field.
- Knowledge in the use of ESRI’s AcrMap, ArcGIS Pro, ARCGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS, and related tools.
