Job Summary:
The Vice President is responsible for all aspects of the successful operation of the Ayres Associates’ Geospatial Division including expanding our marketplace foot print and workload to grow our revenue base, managing the resources to meet profitability goals and finding solutions to meet our client’s needs. Currently the Geospatial Division consists of 24 employees in land surveying and 19 employees in aerial mapping service lines primarily located within Wisconsin. A majority of our revenue generated by the Geospatial Division is from clients in the upper Midwest. The Vice President position will be expected to grow these service lines outside of Wisconsin and the upper Midwest. To facilitate this growth, the Vice President will not be required to be located within Wisconsin.
Duties:
- Lead the company’s vision for growth in the aerial mapping and land surveying service lines, concentrating on expanded geographic locations or technologies
- Recognize the changing marketplace and identify areas for growth or contraction as the industry evolves
- Cultivate relationships with clients, be active in community and professional organizations, and place an emphasis on new business development
- Expand our client base throughout the industry
- Maintain a team environment where every staff member is appreciated and ideas flow freely
- Motivate and lead staff toward their own and divisional goals by providing technical training and career development
- Guide the divisional management team with resource planning and utilization, budgeting and assuring a quality product is delivered
- Assist in developing the firm’s standards, policies, practices, procedures and philosophies and assuring conformance within the division
- Prepare a comprehensive business plan annually
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree and MBA preferred
- Professional Surveyor, Certified Photogrammetrist or other professional registration
- 15 plus years of relevant experience, including knowledge and application of current leading mapping and survey technologies
- At least 5 years of experience managing a business unit within a company including financial, technical, and administrative responsibilities
- Proven ability to grow geospatial (aerial and land survey) service lines into new geographic locations with growth preferably in the Western or Southeastern parts of the United States
- Ability to successfully manage staff in multiple offices in various locations, including spending time in each of the offices as appropriate
- Experience in successfully marketing and winning projects from a wide mix of clients as well as the ability to maximize cross-selling opportunities
- Strong presence in professional organizations and relationships with potential partner firms
- Strong written and verbal communicator with excellent presentation skills
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record required
- Successful candidate will be an Ayres Associates individual shareholder or will become one
