Job Summary:
The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Assistant shall be responsible for accurately adding and maintaining parts of the cooperatives’ electric distribution system specific to the Pole Numbering Project using both ERSI tools and Microsoft Office products.
Duties:
- Maintain accurate maps of Pierce Pepin’s electric distribution system, which includes locating utility plant on the maps using raster imaging and/or GPS coordinates, producing graphic representation of the maps for review and approval, and verifying accuracy and completeness of individual drawings.
- Review existing and incoming data for accuracy and appropriate documentation, perform quality control checks to ensure integrity and connectivity of GIS data and application, and maintains a project log to ensure completion of projects on schedule.
- Works in conjunction with the appropriate Cooperative departments and personnel, as well as the appropriate vendors, to ensure that the Pole Numbering project is completed in a timely manner and with the highest level of accuracy.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor degree in Geography, GIS, or similar discipline in progress is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate the ability to perform duties of this position
Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to work with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work with ESRI is preferred. Must be able to move data between systems. Must exhibit excellent verbal and written skills with strong organizational skills. Must have strong mathematical skills. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to adapt to a work environment that requires the ability to learn and implement new technology. Must be able to communicate clearly and fluently over the telephone and in person. Must work well individually and with others. Individual must have acute consciousness of safety and a
positive attitude toward accident prevention. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license.
