Job Summary:
To assist the Public Work’s Land Surveying and Engineering (Construction and Topo Survey Crew) staff in performing the duties essential to road design and construction. Provide support in Land Surveying duties involving the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). These duties involve field work and office work. Cooperation, communication and team work are essential qualities to this position.
Duties:
Examples of typical duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Assist in pre-design, design and construction staking of County Engineering projects.
- Assist survey division in maintaining or re-establish County PLSS corner monuments, horizontal control monuments & benchmarks.
- Assist in boundary and right of way surveys for various County projects.
- Assist Engineering Technicians in quality control or minor inspection duties.
- Perform computer aided drafting (CAD) duties for surveying and engineering needs.
- Work as a team member on survey crew and have the ability to work independently at times to aid in gathering pertinent engineering and land survey data using modern office/field software and survey equipment.
- Help in gathering topographic information relative to infrastructure design needs.
- Help prepare and/or checking documents, drawings and data for public or departmental using CAD or other software programs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar field. Work experience or training in land surveying / engineering equipment involving data collection, Global Positioning System (GPS) and computer application software is desirable.
