Job Summary & Duties:
This position provides expertise and services for the City of Faribault for the overall coordination, development, implementation, operation, maintenance and training for the City’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Responsible for coordinating GIS activities throughout the City, serve as the City’s representative to outside organizations, work closely with user departments, consultants, vendors, external users, and the general public in the coordination and utilization of GIS services. Develops and maintains systems and data using ESRI and AutoCAD software. Designs and creates the GIS related databases, data models, applications, and software for the City, and provides the vision and direction for the use of the system citywide for the use of City personnel, and the citizens of the community.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in GIS, Computer Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge in the principles and practices of mapping, coordinate systems, projections, and scales.
- One or more years of comprehensive work experience with: ArcGIS for Desktop and other ESRI GIS products, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3d preferably in a governmental setting with general knowledge of surveying, mapping, database management and photogrammetric techniques.
- Valid State Class D Driver’s License.
