Regional Map Content Intern

Regional Map Content (RMC) Intern will be mainly working with Local Map Operations and  Data Acquisition & Community building blocks.  When necessary RMC intern will provide assistance to Planning & Central Operations team.

Duties:

• Perform research to detect real-world changes that impact the HERE map utilizing web-based information, ArcGIS and HERE Map Creator
• Review important points of interest and make updates in HERE Map Creator as required
• Use internal proprietary software for data comparisons
• If necessary assist with Field Data Collection

Primary goal for DAC:

• Work toward closing all transit-related jiras. (currently ~100). Considering that we will be sharing this resource with PCO and LMO, the jira transit project would fit nicely as it would only require training once to perform a standardized process (which can be completed as time allows).

Secondary tasks would be:

• Web scraping sites for POI data (Chains, retailers, etc)
• Downloading data files from gov’t source sites where data is “free for the taking”.  Would free-up DA/allow them to focus on tasks higher up the stack.
• Assisting with Venues sourcing (if deemed necessary for 2018)

Qualifications:

• Communicate effectively with other team members, verbally and written
• Ability for spatial orientation and map familiarity
• Enrollment within accredited institution with focus in GIS/Geography
