Job Summary:

Lake Superior Consulting, LLC, a Shawcor Company, headquartered in Duluth, MN, is a team consisting of Engineers, Technicians and Support Specialists committed to providing a premier level of service to our customers in the pipeline industry. We provide many services to the pipeline industry, including but not limited to: Engineering Design and Project Management, Integrity Management, Welding Inspection, Coating Inspection, Survey, Quality Control, Inline Inspection, and Cathodic Protection.

We are currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a Survey Technician position at our office in Bloomington, MN. Please note, our office is moving to Roseville, MN in Summer of 2018. The Survey Crew Chief will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of survey computations, types of surveys and field operations. This role will be responsible for field note completion and in-depth plan interpretation and preparation. This role also supervises specified project components and should have a detailed working knowledge of standard field and office procedure.

Duties:

  • Efficiently set up and operate GPS and Total Station equipment
  • Accurately locate underground utilities using locating equipment
  • Complete projects using competent and ethical principles and techniques
  • Read and interpret project plans, technical drawings, schematics, and reports
  • Be familiar with details of client specifications and federal regulations
  • Manage survey crew in a professional and proficient manner
  • Be professional when interacting with clients, contractors, and land owners
  • Follow all safety procedures put into place
  • Compile legible field notes
  • Successfully troubleshoot equipment and other issues that may incur

Qualifications:

  • Previous survey field experience preferred
  • Completes projects using quality and ethical principles and techniques
  • Ability to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a DOT and company required drug and alcohol test
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to work extra hours when project demands
  • Travel up to 75%
  • Frequent periods of standing and walking for long periods
  • Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50lbs
  • Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates
  • Ability to work long hours and possible overtime when projects demand
