Job Summary:
Senior Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst – City Works is responsible for the overall administration, development, maintenance, and support of the Department of Transportation GIS software system (Azteca Systems, Cityworks) including databases and web-mapping environments by analysis, application development, data management, and training. This role will also assist staff in technical development of GIS related matters.
Responsibilities:
- Provide routine support services: investigate a broad complex of unplanned errors and outages, apply technical, analytical, and experienced skills to acquire and install fixes and workarounds as required to maintain a stable, reliable, and accessible GIS environment. Provide technical configuration support through database and server control to maintain businesses processes.
- Plan, recommend, and coordinate City Works upgrades, monitor and maintain infrastructure elements. Oversee maintenance posting to the enterprise transportation database, including a variety of GIS assets located within MCDOT maintenance areas.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation City Works and other Geographic Information System (GIS) applications and services.
- Research standards, formulate, and recommend best practice solutions related to the Milwaukee County Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) on behalf of the MCDOT.
- Create reports and develop presentations for Geographic Information System (GIS) projects, demonstrations, and exhibitions.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cartography, Geography, Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Two years of Geographic Information Systems (web, enterprise) and database administration.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
Preferred
- GIS project experience using the Cityworks or other asset management system highly preferred.
- Experience with Crystal Reports preferred.
- Experience with SQL preferred.
