GIS Route Acquisition Intern

Job Summary:

We are looking for a GIS Route Acquisition Intern to work in our Madison, WI office.  School is top priority so TDS offers very flexible schedules, while requiring you to work at least 15+ hours per week during the school year and full time in summer and breaks.

The TDS Network Services Route Acquisition team is charged with: obtaining, researching, mapping, managing easements, permits, leases for the entire organization.  The team is integral to insuring we have the necessary rights to build our network while keeping historical data.

Duties:

• Link attachments to records  and create new records from easements (future possibility of Deeds, Permits, Lease, etc.)
• Scan the documents for upload/link to the new record.
• Ensure standards are met and maintained on the documents and correct errors on existing uploads

This position will require a significant amount of daily data entry work related to legal records. A successful candidate will possess attention to detail, will have a strong technical aptitude, will have the ability to quickly and efficiently learn applications, systems, policies and procedures, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and on team assignments.

Qualifications:

Required 

• 1+ year(s) of data entry experience or 1 + year(s) using MS Excel
• 1 + semester in the study of Surveying, GIS, Construction, Engineering, Law, Real Estate or related field.

Preferred 

• 2+ years experience providing administrative office support.
• MS Office
• Experience using multi-functional printer/copier/scanner
• Sharepoint knowledge preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
