Geospatial Technician

Job Summary:

The Aerial Mapping group of Ayres Associates is seeking candidates for a Geospatial Technician position, to be located at our Madison, Wisconsin office. This position is expected to have full-time hours available immediately, with a potential for part time/flexible hours in the fall. This position will focus on the editing of aerial Lidar data with the potential to support other geospatial processes on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

It is requested that candidates prepare brief resumes focused on relevant work experience. In lieu of relevant work experience, candidates may include a summary of educational projects and studies related to geospatial technologies. Qualifications and desirable experience includes:

• Entry level experience with editing Lidar point clouds.
• Knowledgeable with ESRI and CAD-based software platforms.
• Able to communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, technicians, and other staff.
• Basic knowledge of air photo interpretation, remote sensing, and spatial analysis.
• Must have a reliable means of transportation to travel to the office. The position is expected to consist of approximately 24-40 hours/week, depending on workload.

Responsibilities:

This individual will work under the direct supervision of geospatial staff. Responsibilities may include:

• Editing Lidar point cloud data.
• Performing a variety of assignments, requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
• May be asked to support the Land Survey group with field work on an as-needed basis.
