Job Summary:
Student interns work with experienced staff to perform functions related to our GIS system within the Distribution Asset Management department. Full-time (40 hrs. per week) during summer and part-time (10-15 hrs. per week) during school year.
Duties:
- Create and edit datasets for various mapping projects.
- Perform spatial analysis to create reports and insight.
- Perform data validation and data correction on the GIS data.
- Develop automated processes to streamline mapping procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current student enrolled in GIS program
- Familiarity with core cartographic concepts and map design principles for effective communication of spatial information.
- Ability to read and understand schematic drawings of electric and gas facilities.
- Ability to apply learned programming skills in solving GIS development/support problems
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and GIS mapping programs.
- Ability to analyze information and summarize results.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
