The GIS Analyst will be the internal expert working collaboratively throughout the organization to build a robust, high-quality GIS that will achieve greater efficiency, planning and decision making. Duties:
- Keep enterprise GIS data up-to-date and ensure IT and GIS data quality standards are maintained.
- Develop GIS applications for desktop, web, and mobile.
- Work directly with all district departments to expand and improve use of GIS.
- Identify training needs and develop training programs, resources and other approaches to empower GIS users.
- Respond to requests for GIS and other data analysis and related services.
- Manage or support GIS-related projects, including those for engineering, asset management, the collection system, operations and upstream environmental programs.
- Follow and support technical standards established by the IT manager and technology governance teams. Pro-actively and collaboratively set standards for GIS data.
- Work closely with IT staff and management, especially regarding database architecture and other IT systems.
- Coordinate with district GIS partners, including customer communities, the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission and Dane County.
- Monitor and manage GIS portions of department budget; participates in development of annual budget proposals.
Qualifications:
The District is looking for an enthusiastic GIS Analyst to lead the day-to-day GIS functions as well as plan for the future. This position requires:
- A bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or in a related field with significant GIS elements.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in GIS and data analysis.
- GIS Professional Certification strongly preferred.
