Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Geographic Information Systems Supervisor and with general guidance provided by the Geographic Information Systems Analyst, assists in the day-to-day research and support of the production and maintenance of a variety of E911 addressing, geospatial databases and projects that sustains countywide GIS data efforts and collaborative initiatives.

Duties:

  • Performs editing and maintenance to geospatial data
  • Performs geospatial analysis and map creation as needed
  • Creates standard and custom GIS and mapping products
  • Performs general support of base mapping and E911 addressing workflow processes and documentation
  • Performs detailed research activities
  • Provides customer service to the department, internal and external staff, agencies and the general public
  • Provides technical feedback to GIS staff
  • Performs field checks for updating/correcting geospatial databases

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Associates degree from an accredited college in geography, geographic information systems, or a GIS-related field with two (2) years of work experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.
OR
A combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of geographic information systems concepts utilizing ArcGIS software
  • Knowledge of vector and raster geographic data and geospatial databases
  • Basic knowledge of cartographic design and procedures using ArcGIS software tools
  • Skill in the use of computers and technology, including Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to read and interpret land descriptions
  • Ability to manipulate, extract and display data from various geospatial databases
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written directions
  • Ability to effectively multitask and demonstrate time management
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public and other agencies through written and personal contact
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
