Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, and directs work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveying the earth’s surface and spaces to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, map making, land division, titles, mining or other purposes by performing the following duties.
Previous experience with Trimble GPS and Robotic Total Stations, and the use of IDOT codes is required and experience with Trimble TX8 3D Scanner is desired. Project experience with ISTHA, IDOT, route survey and land acquisition, CDWM and CDA projects is desired. Microstation or AutoCAD experience is a plus.
Duties:
- Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
- Develops new data from photogrammetric records.
- Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Keeps accurate and complete notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
- Maintains equipment and vehicle that is assigned.
- Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project.
- Conducting activities of the crew as directed by the Project Manager.
- Operation and maintenance issues related to GPS equipment.
- Operation and maintenance issues related to robotic equipment.
- Operation and maintenance issues related to optical and digital levels.
- Instructing field crew members on proper procedures and methods.
- Performs daily safety briefing for survey crew.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Survey Technician certification preferred.
