Job Summary:

The Data Extraction Analyst position is an entry level position that utilizes advanced proprietary LiDAR point cloud visualization and extraction software. Floating Point FX creates and manages a digital asset library for public and private transportation and industrial applications. Work will involve extracting and analyzing LiDAR data from multiple imaging sensors to create a detailed map of various environments.

Duties:

Data Extraction

  • Understands work flow processing procedures and guidelines.
  • Processes project data according to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Accurately tracks and records daily activities.
  • Informs Team Leader when issues are identified.
  • Analyzes large quantities of point cloud and imagery data.
  • Extracts assets and applies attribution from point cloud and imagery data.
  • Ability to obtain advanced understanding of Stout software and any necessary custom processing applications within six months from date of hire.

Quality

  • Works independently to identify and solve project related problems.
  • Checks accuracy of own work.
  • Follows quality procedures throughout data extraction process.
  • Balances attention to detail with the overall timeline for completion of work.
  • Manages time wisely.

Support

  • Works with Team Leads to train and support data extraction analysts to implement proper standards.
  • Reviews data for errors and coordinates correction procedures through communication with and data extraction analysts.
  • Meets on a regular basis with Project Managers to assess data requirements and changes in procedures.

Communication and Reporting

  • Effectively communicates changes impacting workflow with members of the extraction team.
  • Actively participates in decision-making processes to achieve goals.
  • Identifies and reports process and data quality issues to the Project Managers.
  • Updates data collection and data extraction progress sheets.
  • Completes documentation needed to support quality assurance procedures.
  • Strives to build communication between team members and work groups.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is preferred; 2+ years of industry specific experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Experience or willingness to learn about mapping technologies and asset extraction software products is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of GIS applications and file formats is a plus

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and work in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • 3D environment navigation, such as gaming, CAD is a plus
