Job Summary:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist supports the delivery of healthcare strategic planning and consulting services by collecting, building, and analyzing data. This position builds an understanding of healthcare and our client’s challenges and begins to formulate possible solutions by performing extensive data collection and analysis.

Duties:

  • Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence: Completes market studies by creating maps and models to supplement advance planning analysis and assist clients in making strategic decisions. Recommends potential strategies based on business development, competition and market driven factors.
  • Operational & Space Utilization: Collects and analyzes data relative to patient, information and provider flow and support staff functions. Creates capacity analysis of existing resources and space to accommodate target patient volumes for each specialty and services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3-5 years of analytical experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Knowledge and experience in the healthcare industry and working with exporting healthcare data (such as Truven) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and research skills and aptitude to collect large amount of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ability to effectively document concepts to confirm data, compare and contract viewpoints, test alternative concepts and probe for additional insight.
  • Proficiency in GIS modeling and analysis using ESRI software and demographic/third party datasets such as ArcMap Desktop (10.3 or later), ArcGIS Pro (2.0 or later), Business Analyst Desktop, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, ArcGIS Online, Model Builder, SQL and data queries.
  • Strong understanding Microsoft Excel formulas/chart creation, Powerpoint, experience with Tableau a plus.
  • Strong Cartographic and visual communication skills.
