Job Summary:

With our continued growth, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Survey Technician Internship to join our firm. This position offers the opportunity for you to join a well established firm with a long history of superior service.

Duties:

This Survey Technician will primarily provide construction calculations, assist with coordinating survey crews in the office and support fieldwork when needed for our Burnsville office. This position will include performing CAD drafting of topographic, boundary and ALTA/ASCM surveys; perform routine survey and engineering computations. This position is approximately 60% office drafting and 40% data collection.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience as a survey crew chief, a diploma or Associate of Applied Science Degree in Land Survey Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent training and experience, a minimum of three (3) months of basic surveying experience in data collection and basic drafting skills in AutoCAD. One semester of land survey field collection education will count toward the 3 month requirement. Knowledge of legal descriptions is required. Educational experience will be taken into consideration for legal description requirement.

Preferred skills include working knowledge of Trimble Business Center (TBC), AutoCAD Civil 3D and field survey experience. This employee will be tasked to operate robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors; perform manual labor such as construction staking, shoveling and lifting heavy objects; operating motor vehicles and small power equipment. Additionally, survey technicians are responsible for providing a variety of surveying support to a wide range of internal and external clients. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable at the Firm’s standard rates. Occasional travel may be required.

Additional qualifications that would be a plus include experience with Microstation software, experience with mapping applications including ArcView or ArcMap and experience drafting for municipal infrastructure. NSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) Certification is a plus.
