Job Summary:
The intern will provide GIS services for Planning, Research, and Sustainability (PRS) projects, maintenance, and daily map and data requests. The intern will supplement and support staff while maintaining a high level of customer support. The position provides value by increasing staff productivity and enhancing staff decision-making. The intern will gain experience in regional government, and exposure to GIS software, related hardware, and relational database systems. While working with a team of varied professionals, the intern will strengthen GIS organizational and analytical skills, as well as become familiar with MMSD assets.
Duties:
The student intern will be responsible for the following tasks:
- GIS data updates
- Record maintenance
- Custom mapping
- GIS data requests
To support analyses performed by the staff, the intern will create, maintain, and update existing GIS layers. The intern will also produce maps and data to be used for reports and presentations given by staff members.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of college and two GIS courses. Basic data editing and map creation skills using ESRI ArcMap Version 10+.
Additional Information:
This 12-week summer internship is full-time, Monday through Friday, starting time between 7:00 A.M. and 8:30 A.M.
