Job Summary:

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) Southwest Region is currently seeking to fill a Surveyor Advanced position that serves as the La Crosse office Survey Coordinator for assigned counties within the Region. This vacancy is headquartered in La Crosse, WI (La Crosse County).

This recruitment may be used to fill an additional position headquartered in Madison WI (Dane County) for a Surveyor Advanced position that serves as the Madison office Plat Coordinator for assigned counties within the Region.

Duties:

Region Survey Coordinator

This position is responsible for duties related to the oversight and analysis of data collected by WisDOT and consultant survey crews within assigned counties within Southwest Region. Duties include:

  • Scheduling work assignments, instructing, assisting and reviewing the work of the WisDOT and consultant survey data gathering crews.
  • Ensuring the data supplied is gathered in accordance with WisDOT’s Survey Data Management System (SDMS), standards and specifications.
  • Computing, adjusting and assembling engineering data for use by design, construction, and right of way project leaders.
  • Establish and negotiate work orders for consultant resources surveys.

Region Plat Coordinator

This position is responsible for the design, direction, coordination, delegation of work assignments, research, training and reviewing right-of-way activities of staff engineers and consultants within assigned counties within Southwest Region.  Duties include:

  • Development of Right-of-Way plats for highway improvement projects.
  • Serves as the Region resource regarding plat development.

Qualifications:

  • A Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor License.
  • At least two years of experience working with computer software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Project Management Software of comparable software
  • At least two years of experience with the use of Trimble RTK Global Positioning System (GPS) or comparable GPS platforms.
  • Experience interpreting and preparing legal descriptions.
