Job Summary:
Connexus Energy is a progressive company that provides electric service to customers in a 7-county area north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. We are seeking a solutions driven individual to complete assigned tasks in support of the Distribution Design Team. As a Distribution Design Intern, you will assist the Distribution Designers in the planning, designing, mapping, and staking of overhead and underground distribution lines.
The internship is a temporary position requiring full-time hours during the summer with the possibility of transitioning into part-time hours during the school year.

Duties:
- Assist in the design of Connexus Energy’s distribution system by providing technical support and administrative support to the Distribution Design Workgroup
- Assist in filing permit requests with government agencies for the construction of distribution lines
- Aid in the preparation of design documents that consist of material lists, sketches, work status, mapping, and cost estimates
- Update existing maps and creating custom maps as assigned in ArcGIS
- Operate computer software applications to aid in preparing construction work orders
- Assist distribution designers in design, measuring routes, flagging routes, and staking of new services, system improvements, road construction, and other types of projects
Qualifications:
Required
- Enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university
- Proficient with MS Office using Word and Excel
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, while having the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Position requires the ability to lift 25 lbs on uneven terrain
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented
- A valid driver’s license
Preferred
- Sophomore through senior level in college majoring in Geography, GIS, construction, engineering, or related field at an accredited college or university
- Proficient with Esri’s ArcGIS or other GIS software
- Engineering, GIS, Land Surveying or cartography related course work
- Construction background and knowledge (specifically electrical utilities)
- Customer experience skills
