Job Summary:
The GIS Intern assists the Engineering Department with GIS database management, GPS data collection, and spatial analysis projects.
Duties:
- Field GPS data collection on water main, sanitary sewer, storm drainage systems, streetlights and signs. The position involve some walking through vegetated areas, standing for long periods of time, and occasionally removing manhole covers.
- Special projects requiring GIS analysis using ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Detailed data entry and database management.
- Providing support with general engineering office work such as answering phones, documentation of records, and general filing.
Qualifications:
Required
- GIS student currently enrolled with a minimum of one year completed in an accredited college or university geography or GIS program.
- Proficient in personal computer software including MS Office.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
- Experience using GPS for field data collection.
- Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software creating, querying, and manipulating SDE databases.
- Experience creating, editing, manipulating, analyzing, maintaining, and mapping various types of spatial data.
