Job Summary:

There are 2 vacancies that will be filled from this posting.

To work on a field survey crew performing 1st -and 2nd-order horizontal geodetic control surveys and 3rd-order vertical control surveys used for photo control, construction and location surveys and R/W monumentation. To work on a reconnaissance and monumentation field crew used for MnDOT State Road Construction (SRC) and non-State Road Construction (nonSRC) projects.  To occasionally perform office processing, computations, and drafting as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Six months of experience performing survey (e.g., land, location, and construction surveys, etc.), mapping, geodetic or related activities and a combination of six months experience in road maintenance, construction, materials/soils, permits, etc.
OR
  • Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four year degrees:  Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying/Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience, applicants must submit a copy of transcripts);
AND
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information, communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices and maintain routine written logs and simple records;
  • A valid Class D Driver’s License.

Preferred

  • Previous MnDOT experience working as a Laborer, Transportation Associate, Transportation Generalist, or Student Worker with documented satisfactory performance.
  • Knowledge and application of advanced mathematics.
  • Knowledge of Geodesy and its application to the professions of Surveying and Civil Engineering.
