Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This position requires strong written communication skills, familiarity with editing data in ArcMap, attention to detail, and an interest in geology or natural resources. In addition, a basic familiarity with the following topics would be useful, though not required: editing topology in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, scripting in python or another scripting language, using geologic maps.

Position Summary:

The goal of this project is to convert legacy geologic map data to a current GIS format and prepare it for distribution online. The student will collaborate with WGNHS staff in converting vector datasets into an updated geodatabase format and schema, including re-organizing features, adding new attributes, checking topology, and converting or creating metadata. They will help develop ways to script and otherwise automate parts of this process. They will also write detailed documentation.
