Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Bureau Chief of Project Development, designs, develops and maintains the geospatial applications and specialized/unique transportation-related databases through its’ concept, design and implementation phases. Assists with mapping the Multi-Year Capital Improvements program, creating and maintaining transportation asset inventories and providing assistance/training to staff in the use and initiation of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. Oversees and reviews the design/production of maps, charts, and exhibits for communication to elected officials, Federal, State and local governmental agencies and general public. Collaborates with the Cook County Bureau of Technology’s GIS department to coordinate software and hardware issues. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography; Mapping; Urban Planning; Geographic Information Science; Computer Science; Geology; Environmental Science; or Civil or Environmental Engineering.  (Must provide original college/university transcript at time of interview)*
  •  Five (5) years of full-time work experience in Geographic Information Technology using the ESRI technology platform to conduct analysis is required.
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience developing GIS-related applications utilizing the ArcGIS API for JavaScript is required.
  • Valid driver’s license. (Must provide proof at time of interview)  

Preferred 

  •    Experience as a manager or supervisor.
