Job Description

CDM Smith is currently seeking a GIS Specialist to support FEMA Risk MAP (Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning) activities nationwide.

On a daily basis, the selected candidate with work closely with team members, both locally and nationally, towards the successful completion of a variety of RiskMap products.

Additionally, as CDM Smith provides service at all stages of RiskMap, the selected candidate can expect involvement throughout the project life cycle. Project related responsibilities include:

•Producing high-quality geospatial and cartographic products all adhering to strict FEMA requirements.
•Lead and support both internal QA/QC procedures as well as FEMA Quality Reviews 1-7
•Facilitating/presenting/participation at public meetings and support of community engagement activities
•Independently lead and coordinate projects and delegate tasks to multiple supporting staff.

*Work may involve field investigations requiring part-time work outdoors.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, science, engineering, planning, mathematics or government or related discipline.

Experience: 4 years progressively responsible experience applying GIS technology

Travel: Domestic and/or international travel may be required.  The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
