Wenck is seeking applicants for our 2020 Summer Internship Program!

As a GIS Intern for the Engineering Design Services (EDS) Group, you can expect to gain a working knowledge of how GIS is used in an enterprise setting while working across multiple business sectors.  Every day will allow you to work on an interesting project, while expanding your knowledge as you gain field and office experience in many disciplines.

This position will be based out of our Maple Plain, MN office with a targeted start date on/near May 15, 2020 through August 2020.

The EDS group scope of services includes civil engineering and design (earthwork, utilities, stormwater infrastructure, site development, etc.), permitting, planning, construction observation, and construction management. The wide variety of tasks you may be involved in makes every day interesting by expanding your knowledge as you gain field and office experience.  Position responsibilities will vary dependent on workload and current projects for the duration of the internship.

Qualifications:

  • Declared major with emphasis in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Coursework background in programming, python, CAD, biology, civil engineering, water resources or surveying.
  • Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Field data collection experience.
  • Completed junior year or higher and/or equivalent credits in relevant coursework for graduation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Customer service experience/skills are desired.

Additional tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct data interpretation and analysis in support of all business groups.
  • Maintain data documentation.
  • Create and maintain cartographic products for a range of uses.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete project timelines and requirements.
  • Work in both desktop and mobile/web environments and ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct spatial analysis, utilize geographic information to communicate geospatial in formation.
  • Collect field data utilizing Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123 or Trimble Geo 7 series GPS units.
  • Providing support to other groups within Wenck, as business needs dictate, allowing exposure to other disciplines and client types related to engineering and environmental science.

Salary:

  • Commensurate with education, training, and experience.
