As a Biological Science Technician (Wetland Inventory) you will be responsible for mapping wetland basins on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Waterfowl Production Easements.
The incumbent must have skills in Aerial photography interpretation, experience working with advanced filing systems, an understanding of Farm Service Slides, draw and proof maps of subordinate employees, perform ground checks of mapped basins in both office and field setting, and experience using both slide scanners and ArcView software.
Other duties may include a variety of tasks in support of daily work operations on National Wildlife Refuges and Waterfowl Production Areas including:
Monitor and maintain nesting structures for waterfowl production.
Assists in biological programs by identifying and recording types of wildlife common to refuge or other areas, habitat conditions and trends, noxious or undesirable plants.
Conducts routine wildlife surveys.
Conduct weed control with weed whips, ATV and rotary mowers.
Operate water control structures.
Perform environmental education programs.
