Survey Technician

Description:

Bolton & Menk is growing and we have a unique opportunity for a Survey Technician to join our Maplewood team and serve our Twin Cities clients.

What You Will Do:

• Assist in the production of survey drawings
• Perform basic survey computations
• Use CAD and other survey/engineering software for basic survey drawing preparation
• Assist with survey field operations as needed with:
• Construction staking, which will include shoveling, lifting and carrying 25-50 lbs
• Operate survey instruments (robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors) to collect and process field measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects

What We are Looking For:

• Diploma or Associates Degree in Land Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field from an accredited post-secondary institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge and skills in CAD and survey software (i.e. AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, Microstation)
• Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively apply survey and engineering concepts
• Good time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced math skills
• Strong attention to detail

This role requires that you possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable at the Firm’s standard rates. A motor vehicle record (MVR) check is a standard condition of employment.

Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with DOT and municipal infrastructure
• NSPE Certified Survey Technician (CST) Certification
