Primary duties will be mapping culverts in Bayfield County.  Internship hours are flexible and will run February through December 2020 and a maximum of 450 hours.

Examples of Duties

A. Uses GIS principles and methods for the construction, production and ongoing maintenance of various databases, including standardized input method, naming conventions, file characteristics and organization, and symbology and map notations.
B. Field check culvert data mapped in the office.
C. Conduct repetitive task placing culverts cuts on a digital map to make a better represented model of our Digital Elevation Model for hydro modeling.

Qualifications

A. Candidates should be enrolled or recent graduate of a bachelor or associate degree program in, water resources, geography, land records, geology, natural resources or related field.
B. 1 year of completed coursework and some experience with ArcGIS or GIS platforms strongly preferred but not required.
C. Successful candidates must be independently motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, ?exible, and have good interpersonal communication.
D. Prefer candidates comfortable in communicating with a diverse audience through multiple forms of communication including print, verbal and social media.
E.  Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small team.
F. Valid driver’s license required.

Supplemental Information

A. Knowledge of General understanding of GIS layers to locate and map culverts using a wide variety of resources such as: aerials, road centerline, stream and LiDAR data.
B. Skilled in Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
C. Excellent organizational, analytical, judgement, and problem solving skills.
D. Communicating with team members, math, and computer applications.
E. Ability to work in the field without direct supervision.
