The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Floodplain Mapping GIS Specialist (IS Data Services Senior classification) within the Division of External Services. This position will be stationed in our central office, located in downtown Madison, WI.
Position Summary: The person in this position will provide critical support for the Floodplain Mapping Program effort to create Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) and other flood risk projects associated with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Floodplain Risk MAP initiative.
Qualifications: Required skills for this position include experience with:
– Developing, installing, and/or maintaining GIS systems for map production and using ARC GIS 10.x
– Developing and interpreting mapping guidance and standards
– Project coordination (e.g. determining project/mapping needs, developing goals, progress tracking, etc.)
Best qualified candidates will also have the following preferred skills:
– Experience utilizing FEMA’s Mapping Information Platform (MIP)
– Experience analyzing and interpreting NR116 or CFR44
– Presenting or communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
– GIS Certification
– Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
