Position Description Responsibilities 

The GIS Data Analyst I – Route Acquisition position on our Right Of Way team has the responsibility for leading efforts to identify, collect, analyze, and transform relevant internal and external data into highly reliable and actionable information based on current and future business needs and requirements. This position is primarily focused on data supporting Route Analysis and Selection (RAS) decisions in advance of facility design and placement.

Responsibilities 

Report Development:

  • Lead efforts to identify, collect, analyze, and transform relevant internal and external data into highly reliable and actionable information based on current and future business needs and requirements
  • Create reports, metrics, queries, presentations, and visualizations utilizing various software/tools
  • Ensure that the reports being developed adhere to standards

Operational:

  • Manage individual work queue per standards
  • Negotiate due dates
  • Maintain documentation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and address any issues found
  • Maintain reporting security and integrity controls
  • Create and maintain necessary scripts to automate and improve your duties

Process and Standards:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of reporting standards, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Assist in the development of company-wide standards, procedures, and facilities
  • Participates actively in the change management process to ensure that the impact of all system software changes and all application system changes on production databases is understood and does not degrade performance

Software Development:

  • Work actively with project teams to gather reporting requirements for the projects

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree (or higher) -OR- 2+ years’ professional work experience

Other Qualifications

  • Strong technical aptitude for data collection, cleaning, normalization, analysis, transformation, modeling, utilization, storage (integrity, reliability, security, backup, recovery), database architecture and overall data management (clear vision, strategy, and tactics)
  • Strong project management, mathematical and statistical finance and productivity background
  • Strong coding skills, working knowledge of SQL, Python, Oracle and/or PL-SQL, and development tools
  • Analytical problem solver, ability to utilize large data sets to create reports, queries and visualizations utilizing various software such as ESRI and Tableau
  • Solid work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and sustain heavy workloads
  • Accepts accountability and committed to follow through with activities.  Provide regular feedback; take ownership, and exercise diligence and integrity in work activities
  • Able to work both independently and cooperatively on team assignments
  • Professional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with both laypersons and information systems professionals. Able to produce clear, professionally written communications, documentation, and processes
  • Able to work effectively with business leaders and partners to identify information needs and solutions, define reporting requirements, and define functional designs for management reporting data structures, file layouts, and report definitions
  • Attention to detail, able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good understanding of finance, business, and marketing principles
  • Ability to work with a diverse functional and technical groups
