Job Description
The City of Naperville’ Water & Wastewater Utility has an undergrad internship opportunity available in our Collection & Pumping Division – for full-time summer employment for the 2021 season. To be considered, applicants must be currently enrolled in a related degree program. The work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Term of employment is from approximately mid-May through mid-August.
Duties
Reporting to Collections & Pumping Supervisor Chris Myers, you will conduct field work to collect GPS data of sanitary and water assets including manholes, cleanouts, etc. The GIS Summer intern will also perform GIS editing tasks, including updating asset attribute information and inputting new or updated feature classes. Create maps for field work.
Other duties include, but are not limited to data entry in the City’s GIS system, and CCTV inspection assistance.
Qualifications
Applicants currently working towards an undergraduate major in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, or Environmental Science are preferred. Must be highly motivated and possess the strong desire to learn!
Previous experience/familiarity using ArcMap and/or experience with ArcPro preferred. Experience using a GPS field unit is ideal. You must be comfortable working outdoors.
