This position specializes in being the survey technical expert for the Southwest Region.  In this role, you will know how to perform WisDOT types of field surveys, use the various types of survey equipment and be able to support other region users, such as project development staff assigned survey equipment on construction projects.  In addition, this position will assist the survey and plat coordinators with other survey or plat related work assignments.  Such work may include the development of Transportation Project Plats (TPPs) right-of-way plats for highway improvements, and reviewing and interpreting legal descriptions, as well as project plans.  This position requires expertise in making survey calculations and in using C3D, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other specialized computer programs to develop highway right of way plats.

The work performed is under the guidance of the Survey or Plat Coordinators who may review and/or stamp work accordingly as a Professional Land Surveyor.  A valid Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor registration is helpful but is not a requirement of the position.  Employees in this position are highly encouraged to pursue their PLS and/or attend coursework required of this credential.
