GIS Information Systems Supervisor 2

Position Summary

This position is responsible for oversight and management of professional information technology (IT) staff working in the DOT enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) Core Services Unit. The Supervisor directs and manages assigned staff responsible for production incident response and operational support of all DOT enterprise geospatial databases, on-premise and cloud development platforms and environments, web services, and user license/account administration. The Supervisor also directs and manages Unit project leaders and staff working on enterprise GIS infrastructure and platform projects, including effectively negotiating project staff resourcing, timelines, and other project concerns with the section chief, partners, and customers.

This position is responsible for the development, implementation, periodic review, and championing of policy, standards, guidelines, and procedures that maintain the integrity of DOT enterprise geospatial databases, data, web services, on-premise and cloud GIS application development platforms, DOT’s ArcGIS Online and GIS Open Data Hub sites, automated spatial data extract/transfer/load processes, and other enterprise geospatial tools and services.

This position manages the Unit’s budget items, provides consulting about Unit services, and collaborates with other state and federal agencies on strategies for the development and utilization of cost-effective GIS solutions. This includes performing related impact analysis for GIS solutions and DOT’s geospatial applications as prioritized by the department portfolio management function.
